24 Acoustics’ initial involvement with Marchwood Power dates back to when the site was first commissioned in 2009. The company was tasked with ensuring that the new power station complied fully with environmental and planning noise limits – and recommending engineering noise control measures accordingly. Today, the natural gas-fired combined cycle power station on the edge of Southampton Water produces 842MW of electricity (enough for 1 million homes) and retains 24 Acoustics to provide annual environmental noise audits to verify that the site continues to operate within acceptable limits. 24 Acoustics also advises on noise emission for new plant and undertakes biennial occupational noise risk assessments in accordance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations.
