24 Acoustics were retained by BP to provide detailed workplace noise and vibration assessments of three shipbuilding sites and an oil refinery owned by the company in Azerbaijan. Working to the UK Control of Noise at Work Regulations, 24 Acoustics measured noise levels in all working areas from both process plant and hand-held tools, alongside detailed dosimetry noise measurements on a sample of staff at each site. A detailed management audit was undertaken on all four sites, encompassing records of audiometric testing, provision of hearing protection and general workplace awareness and signage relating to the risks of excessive exposure to workplace noise.
Similarly, UK Control of Vibration at Work Regulations were applied to detailed hand-arm and whole-body vibration risk assessments on a wide array of hand tools and an impressive range of vintage former Soviet bloc mobile plant!
