John is a Chartered Engineer and Principal Consultant experienced in measurement, analysis, prediction and assessment of noise and vibration. John started his career in acoustic consultancy at 24 Acoustics in 2010. He moved on to work with a global civil engineering company for 6 years working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams primarily on large infrastructure projects. He gained valuable experience leading noise and vibration assessments for major projects including working as technical expert through application and examination for a Development Consent Order project. He rejoined 24 Acoustics in 2024 and his main responsibilities are providing technical advice for acoustic assessments with a focus on environmental and planning noise and vibration assessments.
John's experience in acoustic consultancy extends to a wide range of projects and development schemes including highways, rail, renewables, construction, education, residential, industrial and commercial, waste and minerals.

Experience Highlights
Highways / National Highways. Noise assessments for highway improvement projects including assessment through early stage optioneering, at preliminary design, consenting and through construction. Working within multi-disciplinary teams to consider construction and operational noise and vibration effects.
HS2. Operational noise modelling, assessment and design of acoustic mitigation on behalf of the Main Works Civil Contractor (MWCC) for a section of the route near Birmingham. Undertaking regular consultation with key stakeholders including local authorities.
Sewer diversion project. Noise and vibration predictions, assessment and preparation of Section 61 application for prior consent relating to construction of sewer diversion works including tunnelling activities.
Waste water plant relocation project. Noise and vibration topic lead and chapter author for EIA to accompany DCO application. Technical expert supporting the applicant through application and DCO examination process.
Wind turbine development sites. Noise impact assessments for proposed turbine sites in Wales and Scotland. Experience in measurement, analysis, prediction and assessment of noise impacts during operation.
Residential development sites. Extensive experience in providing noise assessments and acoustic design services for residential development schemes for local and national house builders.
School extension projects. Noise assessment and acoustic design for schools development projects to provide additional teaching spaces.
